They are the most professional guides in Bariloche and Northern Patagonia, trained by our family. They have provided invaluable support to our clients and us for 15 years. The Trout Bariloche guides are experts in fishing techniques such as spey casting, fly casting, spinning, and European nymphing. They are also excellent at teaching children and families.
Instead of sitting on the boat when the fishing is tough, they will patiently teach you how to find trout. They are all excellent fly tiers, cooks, and drivers. They are very safe and highly skilled at paddling. Our guides are genuine; they grew up in Bariloche. It's a lot of fun to enjoy camping with them. They are friendly locals and very helpful guides. You'll enjoy a traditional Patagonian mate by the river at our campsites.
The Best Fishing Guides in Bariloche Will Make You Want to Come Back for Sure!
“Our mother taught us to walk while our father bought us fly fishing rods.”
Emanuel Medina has been working in the same field for twenty-five years, leading fishing expeditions. In recent years, he has dedicated himself to serving and leading expeditions to other rivers in Patagonia, while living at the Glamping Lodge on the Manso River.
The company owner’s experience is that only by traveling and getting to know every corner of the region can one offer the best services.
In his thirty years as a fishing guide, Emanuel Medina has worked in Costa Rica, Panama, Chile, Peru, Argentina, and Patagonia. Among other destinations, Emanuel knows a great deal about tarpon, bonefish, dorado, salmon, and various trout species. He has also fished for roosterfish, sailfish, and even sharks. Emanuel is a fishing fanatic; he speaks the language fluently and enjoys traveling and leading his own expeditions. That’s why, nowadays, he rests here in the calm waters and, day by day, attends to his clients, while in the low season he has five months to travel and make journeys.

Between the waters of the Limay River and the mouth of Lake Steffen, where the lower Manso River originates, Juan Nazetta is the most daring guide for finding large trout, and especially magnificent brown trout. He has 10 years of experience as a guide. He started with our company, Trout Bariloche, and still works with us. His English is excellent, and he is also a very kind and easygoing person. He will be willing to go the extra mile for you.
He is very friendly and enjoys learning new fishing techniques, including the two-handed rod, with which he has caught some of the best trophies in the last three years on the Limay River in Bariloche, Patagonia, Argentina.
Fly fishing and fly tying have been Yair’s passions since childhood. He’s the youngest guide in our company, with only three years of experience. He explores the coast and the Limay River, fishing with dry flies, nymphs, and strike indicators. He loves new techniques and special nymph ties designed for fast sinking, and rainbow trout are his favorite catch.
Wherever you go, you’ll always remember Luciano Bachi for his friendship, his passion, his cheerful nature, and his culinary excellence. Luciano also studied aquaculture and runs the Argentine Fly Fishing School. He’s also part of our team; he’s helped us countless times and is a great friend of Emanuel’s. He’s a highly experienced guide, incredibly engaging, and a truly exceptional person. We hope you have the opportunity to meet Luciano and enjoy a fantastic day of fishing.
Our friend and ally, Juanito Bruzone, was one of this company’s first guides and a great friend of my parents. Juanito knows all the channels and river mouths of Northern Patagonia and is the most experienced guide, ideal for leading the casting workshops and the new fly-fishing school we’re opening at Trout Bariloche, so children can come and receive guidance from the very beginning. Juanito also has a very fun daughter who loves going out on his boat. In winter, Juanito teaches snowboarding. He has lived in the United States and is a wonderful person. An excellent companion for your fishing trip.
Hernán Esterita is a teacher and, at the same time, a charming and very funny young man. He’s passionate about his work: he’s been a guide for many years, has acquired state-of-the-art equipment, and owns a beautiful, new, modern, and safe boat for navigating Lake Nahuel Huapi. His learning process was very quick and, above all, very interesting: he caught large brown trout in Lake Nahuel Huapi. Always punctual, he leads his own team and has been working with us for four years. He’s a lot of fun, communicates very clearly, and is very kind. Trips on Lake Nahuel Huapi are also his specialty. You can discover wonderful views and incredible places that are otherwise inaccessible. For Trout Bariloche, working with him is a pleasure. Thank you, as always, for being part of our team.
Juan Pablo is one of the most reliable guides in Bariloche. He has twenty-five years of experience in northern Patagonia and is also a passionate dorado fishing enthusiast. Juan Pablo started as a rafting guide, with his own boats and company, and later added fishing expeditions. When there were still no guides on the rivers, Juan Pablo was leading the first expeditions. He’s a character, very funny; he loves fly fishing and is very patient and friendly.
His enthusiasm for fishing is always reflected in his smile.
